Pema Osel Ling is run by the Vajrayana Foundation, a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote the Tibetan Buddhist ideals of peace and compassion and to support the preservation of Tibetan art and culture.
General Information
Dress code:
Ceremony dress code will be "strictly" "enforced" (by Justen).

Smoking:
- Absolutely no smoking except in designated smoking areas (shown here).
Phone and Computer Use:
- There is minimal cell-phone reception at Pema Osel Ling.
- Emergency contact number (831) 761-6266
- There is a phone in the Information Booth that can be used to make local calls or to be used with a calling card. It does not require change.
- You can check email at the Information Booth or on the benches outside the office if your computer has a wireless card. Office computers are not available for private use.
Gifts:
- No gifts, please. Your presence is present enough! Also our apartment is already full of stuff.
Travel
Pema Osel Ling is located about 1 ½ to 2 hours south of San Francisco, 35 minutes from Santa Cruz and about an hour from both Monterey and San Jose. We recommend that you print the following directions and bring these when visiting.
WARNING: don't trust Google maps. Highland Way via Summit Road off of Highway 17 is very remote, curvy and takes longer than if you take Highway 1 South from Santa Cruz. Please DO NOT follow your GPS, Google Maps or Map Quest directions that take you to Highland Way via Summit Road.
The nearest airports are:
Driving from the NORTH: San Jose Airport or San Francisco or San Jose:
- Drive to Santa Cruz and then follow the directions from Santa Cruz.
Driving from Santa Cruz (Google Map of this route - uses Corralitos Road as a way point):
- Head south on Highway 1.
- Take the Freedom Boulevard exit and go left over the freeway.
- After 5 miles, you will come to a stop sign where you will make a left on Corralitos Road.
- Follow Corralitos Road for 2 miles.
- At the four-way stop sign the road becomes Eureka Canyon.
- Go straight through the stop sign onto Eureka Canyon Road and continue for 6.7 miles.
- Pema Osel Ling is on the left side, with a big blue and gold sign posted at the entrance.
- Head north on Highway 1.
- Take the Airport Boulevard Exit.
- At the stop light on Airport and Freedom Blvd., turn left and stay left onto Freedom Boulevard, follow it for a couple of miles to the next stop sign.
- At the stop sign, make a right onto Corralitos Road.
- Follow Corralitos Road for 2 miles.
- At the four-way stop sign the road becomes Eureka Canyon.
- Go straight through the stop sign onto Eureka Canyon Road and continue for 6.7 miles.
- Pema Osel Ling is on the left side, with a big blue and gold sign posted at the entrance.
Lodging
We have the whole venue reserved for the weekend, so we’d love it if people stayed on site.
There are two options for on-site housing:
- Shared room in a house or in one-room cabins ($80-$120/person/night).
- Tent camping ($33rd/person/night)
Tent site notice:
- Temperatures overnight will be in the 40s at night so prepare accordingly
- We have several extra tents, sleeping bags, etc, so let us know if you want to borrow something.
